With an expected 45,000 attendees this year, HIMSS is a major health information and technology trade show that industry experts travel in for from around the world. With the theme of “be the change,” this year’s show runs from March 9-13 in Orlando, Florida.

Whether it is your first HIMSS or you are a seasoned trade show veteran, here are some tips to guide you to a successful week in Orlando. With just about a month from the big week, now is the time to start planning.

Have a Map Ready

Between your hotel room, the Orange County Convention Center, and the approximately 1,280 exhibitors at HIMSS this year, it is important to maximize your valuable time by setting up a plan in advance. Be Proactive

Interested in securing a conversation with a specific exhibitor? Don’t wait until the day of. Many companies will have landing pages with contact information so that you can set up your meetings in advance. Take advantage of this to ensure you get face-to-face with the people you want to speak with.

Whether you want to learn more about value-based care models, telehealth or artificial intelligence, there is an education session for you. With over 350 education sessions in 17 different subject areas, you’ll be sure to find something specific that interests you.

Pack Yourself a Survival Kit

Attending a trade show means that you’ll be on your feet and networking most of the day. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes, take a water break and recharge if you need to. Pack a few pocket-sized essentials like a mini hand sanitizer, chap stick and a granola bar to keep you going and energized throughout the day.

Arrive Early for Keynote Speakers

This year’s keynote speaker schedule is packed with innovative leaders at the top of their respective industries. Be sure to plan your schedule around it as they are sure to be crowded and you’ll want a good seat.
