AMBIR Announces the release of AmbirScan Web Connect
New SaaS application seamlessly connects physical scanners to virtually any web-based software application.
This week AMBIR announced the official release and availability of its new scanning software, AmbirScan Web Connect SDK. The new application greatly simplifies the process of integrating physical document scanners with off-the-shelf and custom web applications. AmbirScan Web Connect bridges the gap between browser-based applications and local scanner hardware. A lightweight Windows service communicates with TWAIN scanners while exposing a secure local REST API. Your web application includes our JavaScript SDK and gains instant scanner access. Users click one button in their browser and any scanned document flows directly into the web application.
In addition to scanning a document, the AmbirScan solution enables full OCR (optical character recognition) functions that extracts information from documents, ID cards and Insurance cards. This information is transformed from document to data for use in workflow, validation/verification and more. The application also Reads 13+ barcode formats including QR Code, Code 128, PDF417, Data Matrix, EAN, UPC, and more, further expanding the use cases and practical applications of the solution.
The main problem with scanners and web applications has been that web browsers cannot communicate directly with document scanners. When users need to scan a document into a web application, they face a cumbersome multi-step workflow: open separate scanning software, scan to a file, save it, switch to the browser, find the file, and upload. Companies in certain industries such as healthcare, banking and legal may scan hundreds of documents a day, creating a simple and secure method for quickly moving scanned documents into any software application solves a myriad of workflow and efficiency problems at these companies.
